Cargo is shipped and manufactured from all over the world, and the most common means of transportation is by sea. With that in mind, Staten Island Yachts set out to find out which of the world’s ports of call are the busiest. They put a fascinating twist on their findings by ranking each port by the amount of twenty-foot shipping containers they processed each year.
Their findings in the graphic show that China is a shipping giant with multiple ports of call that rank among the world’s busiest. In fact, many of the world’s biggest ports are in East Asia with other Asian regions following close behind. Some notable exceptions in the U.S. and Europe made the list, but overall, Asia is dominating the sea shipping scene.
