Every year about 80 shark attacks are reported worldwide. The chances you will be attacked by a shark when you are swimming in the ocean minding your own business are about 1 in 4 million however that does not stop people from having an immense fear of sharks attacking them while swimming. The Jaws series that began in 1975 has not helped calm anyone's fears either but maybe this infographic can help. Looking over shark attack statistics from 2011 to 2020 you can see where each of these attacks have occurred in counties around the US.
This chart put together by the team at SI Yachts also shows how many of those attacks ended fatally. Luckily only 7 of the 452 attacks during that ten-year time period ended with the person dying. The 5 U.S. States with the Most Shark Attacks Between 2011 and 2020 are:
