Facebook is a popular social media network with millions users of different age. Though Facebook has set a particular age for the user to sign up, reports show that there are 5.6 million minor accounts in 2012.
In 2011, there were a total of 7.5 million minor accounts and the number was reduced to 5.6 million in 2012. Last year Facebook administrators have deleted more than 800,000 accounts created by individuals aged below 13 years.
When surveyed more than 55% parents said that their child has a Facebook account, 82% parents know when their child has created Facebook account, 76% parents helped their kids in creating Facebook account and 4% of kids who are on Facebook are kindergarten students.
It was reported that in 2011, more than 800,0000 minors were subjected to cyberbullying by some strangers on Facebook. This social media giant is in plans to develop a technology that would aid the kids under 13 years to create a Facebook account and use it under supervision of parents.
