How Early School Starts in Every State

School starts early in Louisiana. It starts so early, in fact, that Louisiana has the earliest average school start times for both middle school students and high school students, at average start times of 7:37 AM and 7:30 AM respectively. Meanwhile, across the state line in Mississippi, the earliest start time for elementary school students (at 7:40 AM) can be found. This new infographic from the research team at AAA State of Play shows the average school start times in every state across the United States. Elementary school start times are quite early, with the states following Mississippi including South Carolina with an average start time of 7:44 AM, Alabama at 7:49 AM, Hawaii at 7:53 AM, and Texas at 7:56 AM. The earliest start times for middle school students, following Louisiana, can be found in Delaware (7:40 AM) and Mississippi (7:44), while some of the other early starts for high school students include Connecticut (7:39 AM) and Massachusetts (7:38 AM).
