In 2022 a virus not commonly seen in the U.S. began to sweep through the nation, and throughout much of the world. Mpox, formerly known as Monkeypox, is often found in African countries but surprised health professionals when cases of it started being reported around the U.S. in May of 2022. Some of the states only had a handful of reported cases and they include Vermont and South Dakota with 3 cases each, Wyoming’s 4 cases, and Alaska’s 5 cases amounted to some of the lowest rates in the country.
