Easter spending by Americans is said to be bouncing back after the slump in 2008.
About 120 million pounds of candy is bought by Americans for Easter every year. 16 billion jelly beans are manufactured. 70% of the Easter candy we buy is made of chocolate. 90 million chocolate bunnies are manufactured each year for Easter.
The other top chocolate consumption holidays are Valentines Day and Halloween. It is a common belief among Americans that Easter bunnies are to be eaten ears first. Some Americans haven't even noticed that the chocolate was made to look like a bunny. They just popped one in their mouth!
