When swimming in the United States, some areas warrant caution regarding the potential occurrence of shark attacks. SI Yachts has released an infographic based on data from the International Shark Attack File (ISAF), focusing on the areas with the highest incidence of shark attacks in the United States. The data indicates an overall reduction in shark attacks in the United States in 2022, with a 13% decline compared to the previous year, 2021. Nevertheless, the United States remains accountable for over half of all global shark attacks. SI Yachts' findings reveal that the states with the highest historical occurrence of shark attacks within the country are Florida, Hawaii, California, North Carolina, and South Carolina. Notably, Florida is renowned as the "shark attack capital of the world," responsible for more than half of all annual shark incidents in the United States. Encouragingly, shark attacks in Florida have become less frequent in recent years, with only 16 reported cases in 2022.
