Throughout history, countries have raced to construct a structure that could be called the tallest building in the world. The Empire State Building in New York City held that title from 1931 to 1970, and since then, many buildings have claimed the top spot. This infographic highlights the tallest buildings on every continent. The tallest building in the world is the Burj Khalifa located in Dubai, UAE. It was completed in 2010 and stands 2,715 feet high. Prior to its completion, the tallest building in the world was the Taipei 101 in Taipei, Taiwan. The Taipei 101 is 1,671 feet tall and is now the tenth tallest building in the world. North America's tallest building is One World Trade Center in New York City at 1,776 feet. It’s currently the sixth tallest building in the world.
