Although everybody longs for festivals and holidays to come, we never think about the waste caused after the festivities are over. During Easter, Brits throw 3,000+ years Easter eggs. During Halloween, while making jack-o-lanterns of the 1,000,000 pumpkins Brits throw the seeds, pulps, and most of the skin in the dustbin rather using them as compost.
For Valentines day, each year 24 million cards are sent in UK. Of them many end in the bin rather than being recycled. Christmas, the best time of the year, also comes with its share of waste. 40% of the turkey, sprouts and other trimmings bought will be thrown away. And think how many trees are being cut to make the cards which end in the bin next day.
