As awful as it is, it's still not the deadliest pandemic ever, however. Based on the data, the deadliest pandemic ever is the worldwide smallpox epidemic, which claimed around 500 million lives from about 1877 to 1977. The 2nd deadliest ever was the Spanish Flu, which had 10% of the deaths as the smallpox epidemic with 50 million deaths. COVID-19 has claimed about 1,080,000 lives as of October 14th, 2020.
