The smallest of islands in the world spread over just a few miles and can easily be missed by anyone. There are various small islands in the world which come within the jurisdiction of some or the other country while some are independent islands which have a jurisdiction of their own.

Bishop Rock is the smallest known island in the world as it spreads over only 1 mile. This island is located in Isles of Scilly, Cornwall, United Kingdom. The second smallest island in the world is Saint Martin which is located in the Caribbean Sea. Nauru is another small island which is spread over just 8.1 sq miles.
Marshall Islands are also among the smallest islands in the world covering 70 sq miles in total. Some other small islands are Bora Bora islands in Pacific Ocean, Maldives in Indian Ocean, Rothschild islands spreading over 193 sq miles, Hearst Island, Biliran Island in Philippines and Zhoushan Island in People’s Republic of China.
