Shocking Statistics about Child Abduction in the USA

Child kidnapping is a prominent crime in the USA that is accompanied by shocking statistics. Some of the hair-rising revelations that these numbers make are listed as part of this info graphic which is aimed at educating public and parents at large.

The first part of the info graphic talks about how 40% of the kidnapped children are killed and 4% of them are never traced. It also explains by numbers how a child (under 18 years) is abducted every 40 seconds and how 80 kids go missing and found dead every year.

The second part reports about parents’ reaction to the kidnapping scenario prevailing in the country. A whopping 75% of parents’ worry for their child is that he/she may be kidnapped. And 33% said that this fear of kidnapping ranked topmost among their other fears for the child.

The third part says how acquaintances and family members outnumber strangers among those who commit this crime. The odds of being kidnapped by a stranger are 1 in 560 whereas that by a family member is 1 in 180.

The final part shows how parents can take precautions based on the statistics on the most likely places for abduction and the abductors.
