American adults started using e-books in place of traditional printed books. A significant shift has been noticed from the last year to present. The percentage of American adults, who have read an e-book, increased from 17 to 21 during the summer holidays 2011 to present.
On the other hand, ownership of an e-book bettered from 10% in December 2011 to 19% in January 2012. As of now, 43% of Americans have read an e-book, magazine, etc on an e-book reader or tablet, computer, etc.
Among different reasons for using an e-book reading culture, 84% of Americans read for deriving pleasure. 74% of Americans conduct research on certain topic with the help of e-book reading.
