Advances in science have lead to the development of Genetically Modified Organisms. While GMOs are known to have brought benefits to certain crops, with improved productivity, there have been many health problems associated with them. Biotech foods also have negative impact on the environment.
On the other hand, organic foods are those that are grown using traditional methods of farming and they must strictly adhere to the specifications laid down. Organic foods are also beneficial to our environment. The foods that we are consuming today are mostly conventionally grown foods and GMOs.
This infographic illustrates the differences between the different foods and how they impact our health and environment. In cultivation of organic foods, no chemicals or fertilizers are used and only natural methods are applied for controlling insects and weeds. In the production of non-organic foods, a number of fertilizers, pesticides, etc are used.
These can cause many health issues. Whole foods contain natural complete nutrients. When these are processed and fragmented, some important nutrients will be absent. A diet rich in whole foods is considered to be healthy.
