Did you ever wonder what websites made out the best during the worldwide pandemic shutdown? Lucky for us the team at SemRush.com put together this awesome chart showing how the 50 biggest websites in the US performed during the pandemic. You can see that the site that dominated the top spot for web traffic going into 2020 was the same website that stayed at the top for the pandemic - Google. With everyone taking to their keyboard to ask questions to the world wide web about symptoms, restrictions, and everything in between. YouTube beat out Facebook by only a small margin to come in 2nd for the most web traffic during the pandemic.
With all the entertainment and information that can be found on YouTube, it is no surprise. YouTube is also the 2nd biggest search engine after Google. Coming in 3rd was Facebook, which lost traffic possibly to some angry customers who disliked the censorship Zuckerberg was implementing. In the 4th position for most web traffic, we have Amazon. I'm sure most if not all of you reading this have ordered something from Amazon during these last 12 months. They made it extremely easy to get anything to your doorstep quickly and completely socially distanced. Check out how the rest of the 50 top websites fared below.
