Although America spends more than any country on health care, still there are 46 millions who are uninsured. It constitutes about 18% of the total population of the country. Because of the lack of insurance, there have been 22,000 deaths. Lack of insurance also makes 90% of the uninsured people to forgo any medical aid.
That's not all, 1.5 million people lose their houses every year to foreclosure because of high medical costs. And 62% of bankruptcies which were filed in 2007 were somehow linked to medical expenses.
Out of the 52 states, 18 states have more than 15% of uninsured people.
