In any company, neither the boss nor the employee will work continuously without surfing the non-work related websites. So it is very interesting to find out the ways in which most of the employees waste their precious time at workplace.
Several researchers have found in a survey that over 23.4% of employees prefer socializing with their co-workers and 14% have reported that talking to their colleagues is the prime time waster activity at workplace.
Among the common distractions that employees encounter at workplace, social networking is the major one. It was discovered that 77% of employees who own a Facebook account will open it during the working time and a less percent of workers spend at least 2 hours on the site by chatting with their friends or playing free games.
Indeed, social media is the biggest offender at workplace and with Facebook being the leader of most popular time wasting websites. LinkedIn, Twitter, Google+ and Pinterest are few other social websites that employees visit during their working schedule.
It is reported that more than 46% of employees spend time to find new jobs during the working hours and 47% say that attending meetings every day is the other major time waster.
According to a study, many companies try to implement several new HR policies to restrict the employees from using internet for their personal use, but they weren't that effective, so the companies have decided to block various most visited social websites and other entertainment offering websites.
