When inquired few senior citizens about social media usage, 40% have said they use social media to connect with their good old friends and family members, 20% stated they use this social medium for playing games and 10% showed interest for participating in contests and games.
The top 4 social websites preferred by individuals above 60 years are Google, Facebook, Yahoo and YouTube. Mostly the content shared by senior citizens on these popular social media networks either refers to the grand children of the members on their account or it includes few tips to stay healthy.
At present, there are 39 million people aged above 65 and older across the world using Skype, Facebook and Twitter. A survey shows that of the total users on Facebook, 11% of users are senior citizens.
