In the Olympic Games, no country has won more medals than the United States over time. With 2,976 Olympic medals throughout history, a total which includes 1,180 gold medals, 959 silver medals and 837 bronze medals, the United States leads the rest of the world by a large margin. The Soviet Union has the distinction of having the second highest total of medals with 1,204, as this comprehensive infographic from WizardPins shows.
