Information compiled from the Oklahoma Highway Safety Office by the Oklahoma personal injury law firm Hasbrook & Hasbrook shows that there is an enormous number of crashes in the state every year.
In 2015 there were over 50,000. More than a quarter of those—over 17,000—occurred in Oklahoma City. The next highest number of accidents in Oklahoma goes to Tulsa, which had just a little over half as many accidents as Oklahoma City had.
So what were the factors? Statewide, many of these accidents involved unsafe speeds. What's more, about a fifth of the accidents across the state included drivers under the age of 20, and a whopping 95 of those accidents were alcohol-related. Of course, that number goes up enormously when you consider drivers who are 21 or older.
These statistics clearly show the importance of reporting drunk drivers. If you are in an alcohol-related accident it is very important that you speak with a lawyer immediately to understand your options.
