The Largest Power Stations in the World (Of All Types)

Power plants generate power in a number of different ways. Coal, nuclear, wind, hydro and solar power plants are some of the most common. Some power plants are more environmentally sound than others. Coal power plants rely on burning fossil fuel to generate electricity. When the coal is burned over water, the water turns to steam and spins a turbine attached to a generator. Wind plants spin a turbine to create electricity too but this method doesn't require the burning of fossil fuel. Looking at some of the biggest power plants on earth from this map on Solar Power Guide, it shows that the largest are mostly hydro powered. Hydroelectric power generation is very similar to wind and coal in the sense that it uses a turbine to generate power. Water power is much cleaner than coal or nuclear generation however, drought and dry seasons can wreak havoc on water power plants.
