The 7 Types of Plastics, Their Toxicity, and What Each are Most Commonly Used For
We know that plastic is used to create several products that we use on a daily basis, including everything from the containers we use for our food to our medicine that is packaged, even down to our household materials. However, plastic toxicity is becoming a rising concern, so how safe are we really when it comes to the plastic products that we're constantly using? There are seven different types of plastic, ranging from Polyethylene Terephthalate to Polystyrene.
In this infographic from Alan's Factory Outlet, you can learn a lot more about the different types of plastic, what they're used to make, their levels of toxicity, and more. Polystyrene, for example, is commonly used to make things like egg cartons, video cases, coat hangers, take-out food containers, and disposable foam cups. It's a rigid plastic that is commonly found foamed and can be brittle too! The safer plastics are those that have a lower chance of leaching toxins.
