A February 2017 survey of 1,029 respondents 18 years and older showed 87% of respondents between the ages of 18 to 29 experienced stress often or sometimes. In addition, 70% of those between the ages of 30 to 59 reported they also were stressed often or sometimes. Finally, 42% of those over 60 years of age reported they also were stressed often or sometimes.
Moreover, using US census data for 2018, and information in the previous paragraph, we can conclude that the number of people who experience stress often or sometimes is approximately
- 47 million people between the ages of 18 to 29
- 90 million people between the ages of 30 to 59
- 30 million people over 59 years of age
Adding up these numbers we get a total of 167 million people who experience stress often or sometimes. Now that is a large number of people who have to deal with stress. Most noteworthy, the good news is that many of these people take steps to relieve their stress.
