One of the most dangerous diseases to infect humans through a virus, that renders the affected paralysed by invading the brain and the spinal cord, is the Polio virus, which in reality has no cure other than vaccination of course.
Inspite of widespread awareness and eradication drives, there are still three countries that have remained endemic to this disease viz., Nigeria, Pakistan and Afghanistan but only about 223 cases have been reported from these countries in the year 2012 whereas in 1988, more than 350 thousand cases were reported from almost 125 countries.
This goes to show that the world might finally be heading towards a total eradication of this deadly disease giving children in these underdeveloped countries the hope of having a generation without Polio.
