European plates is an organization that performs research on license plates issued to motor vehicles in Europe.
The first license plate in Europe was issued by France in the year 1893. Germany followed suit by issuing licensing plates in the year 1896. According to them the license plate is visible better when printed on a lighter background, usually white.
The plate must occupy the central position just above the fender and should extend through its length. Further, a good license plate displays the license in good bold fonts ideally in darker shades such as black.
