Despite the increased number of installed home security systems, over 70% of all burglaries happen in residential areas. This is a wake-up call for all homeowners who should be seriously concerned about their lives and property.
During 2017, in the United States, more than 4,300 burglaries occurred, which is close to 1.6 million per year. Sadly, due to a lack of evidence and witnesses in most cases, police can solve only around 13-15% of all reported cases. Furthermore, statistics proved that after the burglary, chances for a home to be victimized again by the same offender and with the same crime are very high.
Burglars can spot an easy target and find the fastest way to execute the crime. For them, every unprotected door or window represents a golden opportunity. They also know that in most situations the police won’t respond fast enough. Most of them will first just watch the property to learn the routine of the inhabitants and find the best time and way to enter.
However, with a good security system, armed with enough cameras, sensors, keypads, and detectors the chances that they will give up the idea are getting much bigger.
