Who knew the tea as we know it has a history of its own. Once the high tea which is our modern tea was considered as pinnacle of elegance and aristocratic dining. The tea which was given between 2 pm and 5 pm was considered as low tea. Although tea has a span of millennia, it has been around in England from the 1600's only.
The Low Tea is usually served with Egg & Cress, Scones, finger sandwiches few others. And the High Tea was usually served on the High table between 5 pm to 7 pm. With this Sponge cakes, tarts, French fancies and other snacks were provided.
There are some etiquette to follow while on high table. Few things to follow are
(1) one should never pour their own tea,
(2) napkins should be folded diagonally and should kept on the lap not touching the table,
(3) Never stir the tea in broad circular motion and
(4) hold the cup properly, etc.
