Summer is one time of the year when one definitely needs to keep a watch on one’s plate. The rising mercury level does not often permit us to eat what we want; junks and spicy foods are specially a big no-no in summer. To keep one’s system functional and fit, one therefore needs to eat healthy. And the key to eating healthy in summer is to incorporate a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables in the daily diet.
Avocados are high in fiber content, besides being a good source of vitamin C and K among other things. Try adding avocados to your salads for some added nutrients.
Cucumbers are extremely refreshing. They are also a good source of Magnesium, Potassium and Vitamin A and K. Eat your cucumbers raw in salads or with a dip.
Try the summer squashes too. Bake them or grill them, but do not miss out on these wonderful veggies rich in molybdenum, vitamin B6 and vitamin C
Don’t forget tomatoes. They are packed with a number of vitamins. Cherries and strawberries are delicious and are packed with antioxidants, fiber, calcium and other nutrients. Go ahead; make some yummy desserts with them.
Melons are full of Vitamin A and C, along with some potassium too. You can also get your daily dose of potassium from the juicy peaches, with the added bonus of some good vitamins.
Try and incorporate one or more of these fruits to your daily diet during the summer months. Your body will stay cooler and you will feel more vibrant.
