Ethylene glycol is an organic compound that is mainly used an antifreeze in automotive industry. Ethylene glycol is odorless, colorless and sweet tasting. It is toxic in nature and its ingestion can lead to death of the individual.

Common uses of ethylene glycol:

Used in the manufacture of antifreeze.
In aircraft and automobile industries, ethylene glycol is used to manufacture de-icer.
Used in manufacturing capacitors.
It is used in manufacturing dyes, ink and polish.
Used in manufacturing vaccines.
Helps in preventing personal computers from corrosion.
Used as cooling agent in air conditioning.
Helpful in preserving human specimens such as saliva, semen etc.
Used as cooling and heating agent in Geothermal process.
Ethylene glycol is hazardous if inhaled by humans. So extra care must be taken while using it in industries to manufacture various items.
