Environmental Impact Video Games

environmental impact video games

When you consider the amount of gaming consoles sold every year, do you ever stop to consider how much they might actually weigh if put together?

Every year, a whopping 6 billion pound of gaming consoles are sold and apparently, if we put all the games and consoles built by Nintendo in a land fill,  the weight is gonna exceed the weight of 5555 Statues of Liberty put together.

This might all be quite interesting and funny even but does that ever make you to stop and thing how exactly this number is going to effect the environment. Plastic does not decompose and so all this billions of tonnes of plastic is only going to pollute the earth more.

And when you think that a 0.4 gallon of crude oil is used just to make one pound of plastic, it actually comes off as quite a staggering reality; so much crude oil wasted so that some of us can enjoy playing virtual games.
