What factors contribute to lifelong happiness, confidence, and success in children? While parenting plays a profound role in how children grow up, the society they live in also plays a crucial role. This infographic visualizes data from UNICEF, an agency of the United Nations that is responsible for providing humanitarian and developmental support to children across the globe. The study included important statistics such as mental well-being, life satisfaction, suicide rates, physical well-being, child obesity rates, child mortality rates, and life skills including social abilities and academic proficiency. Out of the 38 high-income countries analyzed, the Netherlands ranks first in where children are the most satisfied with their lives. Why are children in the Netherlands more happy? Parenting styles in the Netherlands tend to focus on cultivating independence and responsibility. Children are given more freedom to make choices and are trusted to roam and play, which fosters confidence and self-reliance.
