These days, truck accidents are getting the commonest, costly and disastrous automobile accidents that can happen.
According to some reports around 5061 trucks are involved in a casualty each year in which, 56.3 % of fatalities occurred in single vehicle crashes. The main victims of these kinds of accidents are primarily the pedestrians and cyclists. More than 362 pedestrians and 87 cyclists are killed each year in traffic accidents involving trucks.
The main reasons that are reasoned out for most of the truck accidents encountering oftentimes are due to the reasons:
- 7% of the drivers reported falling asleep
- 41% of drivers reported minor tiredness
- Other associated factors are lack of concentration and work pressure.
The main factors that are responsible for truck accidents are mostly the drivers. In any truck accident, 87.2% is the driver error, 10.1% can be considered as vehicle malfunction and 2.3% can be environmental factor.
According to a report, the age groups of victims of these accidents are 12% (0-15 years), 77% (16-59 years) and 10% (60+ years). In which, 70% are car and truck occupants, 12% are pedestrians, 6% are motor cyclist, 4%cyclist and rest 8% are others. When this kind of accidents occurs, victims have to suffer terrible injuries.
Many die from those injuries either right away or after some period of time following the accident.
