When your previous medical conditions restrict the sperm from meeting with the egg, the chances of getting pregnant are obsolete. But you can still become a mom through a new fertilization technique referred as In Vitro Fertilization (IVF).
This IVF process involves retrieving eggs from the female, inseminating it in the lab with semen gathered either from your partner or any donor and after few weeks of development, it is injected into the woman’s uterus as embryos.
To solve your fertility problems, the key initial step is to consult a specialist and he/she will carry out few medical examinations to determine the medical history of your partner. You and your partner must undergo several screening tests such as pelvic scan and other body tests to establish your reproductive health.
Different stages of the IVF Process:
Down regulation - in women, the normal hormone production is stopped temporarily by injecting folic acid to control the egg production.
Ovarian stimulation – the ovaries are enthused with a serial course of hormone injection to produce eggs.
Egg collection – eggs are gathered from ovaries and few medicines are injected into it for preparation of embryos.
Semen sample – on the day of egg collection, a semen sample is collected either from the partner or any donor.
Fertilization – the collected eggs and sperm are in a kept in a Petri dish to allow fertilization.
Embryo transfer – the embryos within the Petri dish are monitored for 2 – 6 days and after the development of embryo, it is injected into woman’s uterus.
