For those who might not be familiar with the term, MOOC actually stands for Massive Open Online Course. It was in 2010 that Udemy, offering online courses to enhance skill-sets for interested people, was founded and by the end of 2011, it was already boosting a 160 thousand enrolled student.
The New York Times named 2012 the year of the MOOC, with such big names as Bill gates pitching in offering online courses. Even Harvard, Berkeley and the MIT started offering courses for the student online through edX while UK launched the FutureLearn initiative.
