India became a republic on 26th of January, 1950 and since then it has been striving towards forming a government that supports and sustains it people. Being the largest democratic country in the world, India has been having elections to select its representative since it gained a republic status.
Parliamentary elections take place in India every 5 years where the people of India democratically elect members to the state assembly as well as the lower house member who in turn vote to elect the Prime Minister of the Country.
543 constituencies,370 registered candidates from various of its parties, 717 million registered voters out of a one billion population, India is truly has a wonderful political mechanism, inspite of being infested heavily with corruption.
Also, it seems strange to note the India has never has a single party win the parliamentary majority since 1989.
