Wordpress is a free blogging tool that is available as open source and this tool is developed using the technologies PHP and MYSQL. It has several new features that grabs the bloggers attraction and features include plug in architecture, free templates for novice bloggers.

Woprdpress is used by more than 16.7% of top websites over internet and reports say that by the end of 2011, more than 22% of new websites that are launched have used wordpress platform. At present, wordpress is the top self hosted blogging system used by millions of website developers and bloggers. There are more than 75,078,790 wordpress sites over the webworld. And at present there are 30 known core vulnerabilities related to wordpress 3.0 version.

According to report generated by the wordpress.org, only 15% of wordpress users have upgraded to wordpress 3.4 version that is launched recently. It is stated that over 40 security vulnerabilities were encountered during the usage of wordpress 2.X and 10 security issues were raised while using wordpress 1.x version.
