The data comes from the CDC's NCHHSTP AtlasPlus, and found that the states with the highest STD rates (cases per 100,000 state residents) includes Mississippi (1,291.4 cases), Louisiana (1,058.0 cases), South Carolina (999.8 cases), Alaska (990.8 cases), North Carolina (898.3 cases), Alabama (857.2 cases), Oklahoma (842.9 cases), Tennessee (836.6 cases), Georgia (826.9 cases) and New Mexico (818.4 cases). In the United States, the most common form of STD is Chlamydia. In just 2020, 1.577 million cases of it were reported to the CDC.
