When you think of shipwrecks, you'll likely think of more famous instances like the RMS Titanic. It was in 1912, when the world's largest passenger ship crashed into an iceberg in the Atlantic Ocean, with hundreds of people losing their lives. Shipwrecks happen more often than you would think for a wide array of reasons, but where do these tragic accidents happen the most? In this new infographic from the team at Staten Island Yacht Sales, you'll learn about which bodies of water have had the most shipwrecks over time. According to their data shown on this infographic, which is based on the 300 most recently reported shipwrecks as of February 2023, it's the Atlantic Ocean that has seen the most disasters with 25. Other bodies of water with higher totals include the South China Sea (17), the Black Sea (13), the Pacific Ocean (13), and the East China Sea (12).
