What to and What not-to Eat Before Going to Bed

Our lives have been chalked out in such a way nowadays, that we hardly ever get adequate sleep. After finishing off with all chores throughout the day, our bodies and minds are often so tired that it is difficult to fall asleep. To top it, we also have the stress in anticipation of the next day.

Improper diet and too much fast/junk food are probably the biggest curses on our generation. Due to various engagements throughout the day, we hardly ever get to fulfill the daily required quota of nutrition. But certain foods, besides not being nutritious, can also hamper with your daily quota of sleep.

Research shows that there are certain foods that prevent people from falling asleep. Quite evidently, the top in that list would be coffee. Coffee is quite understandably the most popular drink of our generation. But drinking coffee before going to bed often prevents one from falling asleep.

Another aerated drink, is also a preventer of sleep. Mountain Dew contains certain chemicals that often prevent one from falling asleep. Digesting Chicken meat is quite a task for our body. Hence after a delicious meal of chicken, you might find it difficult to fall asleep as your body would be more busy trying to digest your dinner.

Alcohol affects our respiratory systems and makes people snore. Snoring can be a serious problem and it often keeps people awake for hours.

Lastly too much spice and high fat containing food is also quite a hazard for sleepy bodies. Instead of these, one should try having foods like cherries, cow’s milk, cereals, turkey and banana. All these have been proven to be quite effective in inducing sleep.
