USA short notation for United Stated of America, also commonly referred to as US or America, is a federal republic. The federal republic consists of 50 states and a federal district.
The federal district is the Washington D.C. area. It is true and obvious that all of the states in the nation vary depending on various factors.
The population count, the weather, the employment and other economic ratios are a few parameters which set the states apart. The area of the states is also one important parameter which helps in the differentiation of the states.
Based on the total area of the states which form the United States, a list of the smallest states of USA is compiled.
The state- Rhode Island is the smallest state in USA (by Area) as it occupies only 1545.05 sq miles with the total country area of USA being 3.794 million sq miles. One may think that given the small area the state will also have the smallest population size.
But that’s not true as the second smallest state by area in USA i.e. Delaware has the state area of 2,489.27 sq miles and a population smaller than that of Rhode Island.
The states of Connecticut, New Jersey and New Hampshire follow behind the above mentioned two states with the states.
