Did you know that the largest source of greenhouse gas emissions in the United States is caused by burning fossil fuels? Many homes use fossil fuels for heat and energy and everyone that drives a gas vehicle puts CO2 emissions into the atmosphere each time they take a trip in their car. Manufacturing plants, forestry and agricultural industries all increase the amount of greenhouse gases. This map from Solar Power Guide shows the US states ranked by carbon dioxide emissions. At the top of the list per capita is Wyoming. One reason why Wyoming has such a high percentage of CO2 emission is because they have led the US in coal production since the 80's. Residents in WY emit over 111 metric tons of carbon dioxide every year. Take a look at the top ten states with the highest CO2 emissions.
