According to this visual from HowToCook.Recipes, its pork when compared on a per capita basis but poultry was found to be the most popular meat to eat in 60 different countries. This visual maps out the most popular type of meat to eat in every country, along with the top 10 countries for each type of meat based on food supply per capita. The six categories of meat include: bovine, pig, poultry, fish & seafood, mutton & goat, and other meats which include rabbit, camel, etc.
It’s interesting to note the trends in meat preferences as you move about the map. Much of North and South America prefers poultry, while many countries in Asia and Africa prefer fish and seafood for their meat source. It also includes an analysis of the ten countries that have the largest total meat supply, with Hong Kong coming in at number one with 189.48 kg (418 lbs.) per capita per year. That’s a lot of meat!
