Banned books recently made the news in February 2022 when a Tennessee school board banned the graphic novel Maus, which tells the story of author Art Spiegelman’s father’s experiences as a Holocaust survivor.
Books have been challenged or banned for years for a variety of reasons including political viewpoints and what is considered to be inappropriate content.
