The History Of African Slave Trade

history-of-the-african-slave-trade-in-america_5315020f1fe10_w1500

History s replete with stories of people being taken as slaves and the trade that followed. In a degeneration of human values and morals, slave trade though no as prevalent as it was once, still continues, if not flourishes.

History has seen people captured and sold or taken as personal property or chattel with almost no rights of their own. They lived because they were allowed to live and died when they could serve no more but even then, they did not get the honor to die as free men.

The history of slavery can be traced back to the Code of Hammurabi which established as an institution that was legal and accepted and in Africa, it was almost as endemic as was their own culture.
