Banks are in the business of aiding their customers in supporting opportunities with their hard-earned money with the benefit of making a large profit off of any money borrowed. In 2021 Forbes published their Global 2000 list which highlights the largest companies in the world using four metrics: sales, profits, assets, and market value. From that list, the team at Indyfin.com calculated the top 30 banks that make the most money per second. Looking at who holds the most power on this chart it is clear to see that China is number one. They hold almost half of the spots listed, but the United States is close behind China with only three less banks. Taking a wider view of these results you see that China and the United States actually hold the top 11 spots. Going out even further, there are only six other countries that have made this top 30 list. Since the world economy is ever changing, especially in these uneasy times, evaluating this year’s Forbes Global 2000 list will be interesting. I am sure that China will still hold the top spots but would be curious if any of the other seven countries switch positions.
