Christmas time means loads of gifts, family time and lavish dinners. But in Australia, as the generations advance, some of the traditions of gift giving have seen dramatic changes while some of the old traditions have been zealously retained.
Where some 10 years back, the expectations of receiving a gadget didn’t even make it to the list of under-18’s, now it is quite a different scenario with almost every under 18 kid asking for an iPod or an iPad or a Kindle or some sort of an Xbox and ofcourse smart phones for Christmas, which is evidently making parent sceptical of allowing them to use gadgets at such a young age no matter how worthwhile they might make it sound.
But old traditions such as shopping for Christmas at retail stores or better yet buying online but still from an Aussie retailer are still being maintained. Even though 15% of the Aussies still prefer ordering gifts online from an overseas retailer.
