With immense of popularity of social media, several popular airlines such as Delta Airlines, JetBlue, United Airlines, Southwest Airlines and British Airways have made social media networks like Facebook and Twitter as first point of contact for their customers or flyers commuting to different locations.

Most of the travellers have started accessing the airline’s official Facebook page and Twitter page to place a query and to grab the details of flight or to share their experience by flying from the respective airlines. More than 185 airlines have registered with Twitter of which 45 airlines are currently active and interact with their travellers on a regular basis. On August 12 2010, the Delta Airlines has become the 1st airline to provide air ticket booking from the Facebook page.
