Search Engine Evolution History

Search engine is an web application that helps the internet users to search their desired information just by typing the phrases or a keyword in the search engine.

There are several search engines in present webworld that includes Google, Yahoo, Bing, MSN search and Alta vista etc.

In the year 1994, Jerry and David has designed a guide immediately after the evolution of internet and later named it as Yahoo which is abbreviated as “Yet another hierarchical officious Oracle” and in October 1996, another search engine named LookSmart was launched in to the web world.

In the year 1996, Standford students Larry Page and Sergey Brin worked on project named BackRub. By adding few extra features like link analysis to rank the pages that have high inbound links which helped it to gain huge popularity in the university. In 1997, it was renamed as Google and in 2002, it has launched Google adwords that work on pay per click principle.
