Safer Storage for Nuclear Waste

03 nuclear-waste-dry-cask-infographic

Radioactive waste has been a matter of concern for countries with nuclear reactors for quite sometime now since disposing them off is an hazardous issue and cause various environmental as well as natural disasters.

Nuclear waste as of now is being stored in cooling pools that have require electricity to keep them cool so as not to prevent them from over heating. This is required because if overheating occurs, they could easily catch fire which would lead for the radiation to escape into the atmosphere.

But the main issue that is been felt all over at these nuclear plants is that cooling pools are getting overcrowded carrying more five times waste than even a reactor.

If by chance an accident results in the release of  radiation from these, it would be several times more severe with tens of thousands of deaths as well as long term displacement for the people not to mention the fats that the thousands of miles of land would turn easily unusable in a matter of hours.
