The terms ‘poor’ and ‘president’ don’t quite go well together because it is difficult to imagine a president of a country to be poor. But however strange that may sound, the world has seen many presidents come and go who had less amount of wealth or earnings as compared to most of the other presidents.

Chester A. Arthur and James A. Garfield too had net worth of less than $1 million. Some other American Presidents who are considered the poorest in terms of their total net worth are Andrew Johnson, Abraham Lincoln, James Buchanan and Warren G. Harding.
